Work with us
Where could I work for you?
NISAD
The National Institutes for Stress, Anxiety & Depression has evolved a COVID-19 and post-COVID-19 strategy so that we are able to continue to work for our aims and objectives.
NISAD has always been about charitable bodies supporting profit-making organisations who are uniquely placed to provide the expertise, experience and drive needed to make a real difference.
Where could I work for you?
These days, the vast majority of our employees and contractees work with us remotely. Many from their homes with help and support from us. We are leaders in flexible work and, of course, in remote working with people affected by health challenges.
However, some of our colleagues need a workplace – like those of us involved with laboratory work. We really value one another, so our first priority is to provide a safe, kindly, and friendly working environment for everyone working with us as an employee, or as a contractee.
If you are considering working with us, for many, new protocols for working mean that you can work for one of our supply companies from almost anywhere. However, we do have specific areas where we are keen to create specialised workforces that will be physically close enough to one another to have meaningful interaction once it is safe to do so.
NISAD already operates or is considering operating, in these areas:
Alderney, British Channel Islands
Alderney has been the centre of our publications and IP centre for two years – although COVID-19 restrictions on travel have seriously delayed our development plans for using this beautiful island. Our first programme for children, “Chizzi & Brahm” features a story that centres on two damaged 9 year olds’ adventures and self-understanding when they meet here. ‘2000 Souls Clinging to a Dream’ is a programme being made examining the emotional advantages and disadvantages of small island living.

Arran, Scotland
We are looking at redesigning the Kellock Centres for Behavioural Change so that they operate partially with distance systems and partially with COVID safe residences on Arran. ‘5000 Souls Clinging to a Dream’ is a comparative work examining the differences between an island where the population is 252.5 people per sq km (Alderney) compared to here where it’s 10.72.
It is one of four possible settings for the provision of ELK.Health online clinics, and back up for face-to-face services.

Copenhagen, Denmark
Research and development work on ELK.Health products and services are overseen from the very centre of this amazing city. It is one of four possible settings for the provision of ELK.Health online clinics, and back up for face-to-face services.

Coventry, England
Our projects to improve the health of people with south Asian ancestry who now live away from the sub-continent, Nepal and Sri Lanka have been seriously delayed by COVID-19, but we are working on ways to re-think this work so that we can get it up and running.

Dundalk, Republic of Ireland
Again, travel restrictions due to COVID-19 have restricted the growth of our projects intended to be centred in Dundalk. This town, just over 20kms from Newry, is planned to host the EU centre for our publications wing, a story-for-health research centre and a festival of story-telling for wellbeing in 2022, jointly with Newry.

Edinburgh, Scotland
NISAD began at the University of Stirling and Scotland is still in NISAD’s research DNA. Research here concentrates on creating the best possible affordable products and services to help people cope with change without needing to travel.
Companies NISAD employs to operate here: ELK.Health R&D Ltd, The National Research Centre for Behavioural Endocrinology & Dichotomy Ltd, Colaba Biomedical PVT Ltd
Gadag, India
Our work here is two-pronged. It will become an increasingly important research centre for our work into the CalmBaby programme – which like all of our programmes includes games and stories – and also a monitoring station for our work on Type 2 diabetes – in collaboration with the work of our colleagues based at the University of Coventry in England.
Companies NISAD employs to operate here: Gadag Clinical Data (OPC) PVT Ltd, NISAD Gadag PVT Ltd
Lund, Sweden
Our work is ground-breaking and requires very high levels of problem-solving. Lund is the headquarters of our global charitable association and also of our research into some aspects of Type 2 diabetes – where we collaborate with the University of Lund.
NISAD organisations operating here: NISAD Ideel Förening, NISAD AB
Mentmore, England
Administrative and creative centre for the period of restrictions due to COVID-19.
Companies NISAD employs to operate here: NISAD R&D Ltd
Mumbai, India
A number of IT development, film and audio recording and administrative functions are carried out in the Colaba district of Mumbai.

Newry, Northern Ireland
Newry is planned to be the centre of two of the most fundamental aspects of our work – training people to support those who use our programmes, apps and games, and developing new ways in which we can help younger people cope better with what life is (and will be) throwing at them. We are also looking at the feasibility of making Newry the centre for the first Europe-wide, then global, register of practitioners working in stress, anxiety, depression and dichotomous behaviours.

Ynys Môn, Wales
NISAD is examining the feasibility of moving much of its work within the UK – which has inevitably decreased due to Brexit – to Ynys Môn / Anglesey.
The advantages are that co-operation with many of our projects taking place in Ireland will be possible, and the proximity of the University of Bangor could be enormously beneficial.
All of the programmes we are currently developing:
- #CertainAboutUncertainty
- CalmBaby
- NoWeigh
- Type2.Club for adults
- as yet, unnamed projects for adolescents, young adults and people through their lifespan
all share these common denominators:
- biomedical monitoring
- story-telling
- advanced psychotherapeutic interventions and an appreciation of the fundamental attitudes of mindfulness
The University of Bangor has been a leader in the peer-reviewed research of clinical applications for mindfulness for many years. Easy, informal access to their unique wisdom and the ability to formulate more formal research programmes would be a major reason for having a centre in Anglesey.
NISAD is also looking at centring aspects of its app development here.
